Kyrgyzstan officially the Kyrgyz Republic, is a country located in Central Asia. Landlocked and mountainous, Kyrgyzstan is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the southwest and China to the east. Its capital and largest city is Bishkek.
Kyrgyzstan is a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Community, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Turkic Council, the TÜRKSOY community and the United Nations. Kyrgyzstan has stated its desire to join the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. Kyrgyzstan is occasionally referred to as “the Switzerland of Central Asia”.
Medical Universities providing MBBS degree are recognized by World Health Organization and also by the Medical Council of India. So, with this degree in India, you can sit for the screening test that is required to fetch a job in this field. Academic year of this course consists of two semesters, and the classes begin in the month of September. The module of the course follows the international standards. Medium of instruction of this course is in English, which helps the international students to a great deal. Students with this degree can apply for employments test in European Union and USA also.
Current education system is a multilevel system, which consists of the following three main types of education programs, the main purpose of which is the development of the student’s aptitude, abilities and talents
Higher education is represented by academies, universities, institutes, higher colleges, etc. At present two systems of higher education are functioning in Kyrgyzstan: traditional permanent 5-year education system and multilevel system, providing three levels of higher education: incomplete higher education, basic higher education (bachelor degree and specialty) and complete higher education (master degree and specialty teaching).
The General medicine programme is aimed to produce physicians (MD) with the specialization in the selected area. The programme is built up in accordance with standards accepted by medical universities of CIS and Europe.
The KSMA also offers this programme in English; however it is required that by the third year of studies students will be obliged to speak Russian to be able to work with patients. To meet this requirement students take intensive Russian language courses during the first and the second years of studies.
Postgraduate specialization for both programmes is implemented at the center for postgraduate Education within the broad range of specialties (Surgery, Gynaecology, Family Medicine Internal Medicine, ophthalmology, grammatology, and other) from 2 to 3 years.
Training Process at The KSMA – is aimed to the preparation of specialists with clinical thinking and knowledgeable enough of advanced medical technologies and able to act as professional medical specialists. Most of KSMA faculty has been trained in advanced medical universities of Russia and European countries.
Admission of Foreign Students – Every year the KSMA enrolls dozens of students form foreign countries. The KSMA welcomes foreign residents as they apply and does its best to ensure qualified medical training. The training at the KSMA is in the Russian language; therefore foreign applicants must go through a relevant 6-9 months training at the preparatory department of the KSMA.
Students studying general medicine in English are not required to go through Russian language courses prior to admission, as they shall study Russian during the first two years of studies. Upon the completion of the preparatory department foreign applicants are admitted to the programme they have selected.
Scientific Activities at The KSMA – The KSMA is the most influential expertise based organization in the health care system of the Kyrgyz Republic. It also renders consulting and expertise related services to a wide range of institutions both in state and private sector of Kyrgyzstan.
The Kyrgyz Republic (CIS) – Population is 4.6 million people, one of the former soviet republics. More than 80 nationalities, thus there is an atmosphere of international concord. The most democratic state in Central Asia. The official state policy of Kyrgyzstan as to the foreign relations is the doctrine of “The Great Silk Road” –East-West integration Education, science and new technologies are the priorities of the development of Kyrgyzstan in 21 century.
The capital of Kyrgyzstan is the city of Bishkek, a political, economical, educational and cultural center of Central Asia. A mountainous country with a variety of natural landscapes, gorgeous lakes and valleys.
The Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) – Qualified medical education with emphasis put on modern trends of health care and medicine. Leader of medical education in the Kyrgyz Republic- the dynamically developing higher educational institution in Central Asia.
Its 60 years history is rooted back as early as 1939 when the institution was established. For this period the KSMA has produced more than 25000 physicians and specialists of associated professions. It is located in the center of the Kyrgyz capital-the city of Bishkek.
The staff of KSMA consists of 473 instructors, among them 64 professors and 242 doctors possessing Ph.D. degree. More than 3000 students study in the KSMA representing Kyrgyzstan, CIS countries and 13 countries such as Pakistan, Syria, India, Nepal, Turkey, Afghanistan, South Korea and others.
Health Care System – According to WHO experts Kyrgyzstan has achieved a lot more in the field of health care reformation as opposed to its CIS counterparts.
